Worth knowing

Where bargaining is and isn't done
Markets and street stalls, yes, gently and with a smile. Convenience stores, restaurants and anywhere with a printed price, no. Asking ลดได้ไหม (any discount?) once is normal; pushing hard after a no is not.
Pronouns get dropped constantly
If it's obvious who you mean, Thai leaves the pronoun out entirely. Going market becomes a complete, natural sentence. Overusing ผม and ฉัน is one of the clearest signs of a beginner.
There is a culture note for this chapter too - the thing a phrasebook will not tell you.
