What the money is for. Ling's $89.99 a year buys access to its Thai lessons. Pro buys an AI tutor and review tools on top of a course that is already free, so nothing you pay for here is permission to keep learning. The full price comparison.

What you get

An AI tutor that knows Thai and does not get bored

Two modes. Ask takes any question you have, including the embarrassing ones, and answers it at your level. Why is this word ครับ and not ค่ะ. What is the difference between these two words that mean "can". Why did the woman at the market laugh.

Practice holds an actual conversation with you, pitched at the vocabulary you have actually covered, so it is neither baby talk nor a wall. It does not switch to English on you, which puts it ahead of most humans in Thailand.

Smart Review, which is not just more flashcards

Every app has spaced repetition. Smart Review is built on top of it and knows the difference between a word you never learned, a word you are shaky on, and a word you learned, forgot, relearned and forgot again. That last group is where your time actually goes, and it is invisible in a normal review queue.

It also notices which exercise types you fail. If you can read a word fine but never catch it in dictation, that is a listening problem, and the drill it builds knows that.

The receipts

Free keeps the last seven days of your mistakes. Pro keeps all of it, so six months in you can look at a word and see that you have missed it eleven times and are finally getting it right. Shadowing recordings are the same: Pro keeps the whole timeline, so you can play January against today. That is a genuinely strange and motivating thing to hear.

The rest

Every companion, theme and flair
All 17 companions and every cosmetic unlocked while you are on Pro, instead of earning them with gems.
Unlimited hearts
Play the games as long as you want. Hearts have never applied to lessons and never will.
Streak insurance
Your freezes top themselves back up, so one bad week does not undo four months.
Double XP and a daily gem stipend
Every lesson pays twice, and the league table notices.

What Pro is not

It is not access. No chapter, lesson, exercise or recording has ever been behind it and none ever will be. If money is tight, use the free version and lose nothing that teaches you Thai.

It is also not a human. There are no tutors here. If you want a person correcting you, pay a person.

The honest pitch

Most language subscriptions charge you for the lessons and hope you forget to cancel. This one gives the lessons away and charges for the things that cost real money to run, mainly the AI, plus the conveniences that only matter once you are already committed.

If you study twice a week and are happy with a review queue, the free version is genuinely the whole product. If you are studying daily, arguing with an AI tutor at midnight and want to know exactly which eleven words are beating you, that is what the €5.83 a month buys.
