The audio is the other reason. Over 1880 phrases were recorded ahead of time rather than synthesised on the fly, which is why a word sounds the same every time you hear it, works with no connection, and does not mangle tones.
Common questions
Is Sabai Thai really free?
Yes. All 34 chapters, every lesson and every recording are free with no trial and no lesson limit. A paid tier adds extras like AI conversation practice and unlimited history, but no lesson is ever behind it.
Does it have real audio or a robot voice?
Every Thai word and phrase is a pre-recorded audio file, not text-to-speech generated in your browser or on your phone. There are over 1,400 of them.
Do I need to learn the Thai script?
No, but it pays for itself quickly. Romanization is shown everywhere in the app and on this site, and the script is taught separately so you can pick it up when you are ready.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. Android only for now.
